Special Note: During the winter of 2021, we worked with our partners to launch a grass roots sprint race series. Circumstances have delayed the launch. Also, cancellations of two Driver Development Track (DDT) events at the start of the season due to COVID-19 “circuit-breaker” measures have short-changed many Novice/Intermediate 1 drivers in search of a slower more technical venue.  We are going to structure the format of this special event as follows:

Hybrid Plan:

  1. Novices & Intermediate 1 drivers
  2. Experienced Intermediate 2 & Advanced SOLO drivers
  3. Launch Group 133 – League of Gentleman Drivers grass roots sprint race series concept

While items 1 & 2 are relatively self explanatory, item 3 above (Group 133) is a plan that we have been evolving and are now ready to start leading and hopefully building with your support and assistance (to the extent the concept interests you). The vision and mission is to start with a core group of racing participants at various levels (deep experience to new or relatively new) and create a racing community supported by our DE winter and summer programming and depth. To introduce new drivers and have them properly educated and mentored. To inaugurate the culture and environment that we’ll pursue vigorously. To create multiple options in venues. To more fully utilize existing race cars. To strengthen grassroots racing and contribute to the improvement of training locally. To provide a safe, consistent and welcoming environment to participate. To bring the best of club racing and thoughtful commercial principles to sustainable driving competition. To eat, drink, socialize and have a ton of fun together consistent with what we already do. To protect and expand that culture for the participants that create it.

On August 29 are we racing? NO. We’re bringing a core group together of people to go over cars, introduce people, talk about plans and drive together so we get to know one another. This will be the first event of its kind as we assemble the pieces needed to have an opportunity to be successful.

DETAILS: If you would like to participate in our Group 133 “run group”, please apply below and pay. We’ll register you on payment (provided we have space).

  1. We are looking for participants to bring their properly prepared “race car” and safety equipment (e.g. race suit, race shoes, gloves, balaclava, helmet and hans). We’re not looking for nor are we likely to accept a street car in this group. However, as noted, we are not racing so at a minimum, the car and equipment must meet our “lapping” standards.
  2. We are designing a program for the Group 133 participants that will include: a briefing to discuss direction and culture; Q&A; group members lapping together; and some skill development exercises.
  3. We will go over the participating cars throughout the day to start to give people a sense of the safety requirements and direction we’re heading in for properly prepared race cars.
  4. We will provide further detail to qualified participants in advance of the event consistent with our usual practices in advance of our DriveTeq events.
  5. Russ Bond of Russ Bond Agency will be leading the Group 133 program with the assistance of some other key individuals to develop our path to our next event, planned for early October.

We’ll continue to build our foundation in the fall, actively engaging those expressing and demonstrating interest. We’ll assemble our rule set and prepare to race in 2022.

We hope to create an environment that is safe, consistent and welcoming while providing a fun atmosphere for both the experienced racer and the newcomer. Education will be a priority along with the sustainability of the series so it can evolve in a positive fashion. “Learn to participate. Learn to compete. Learn to win!” MDMD.
